At the very start of the raid you’ll see a flight master. This is similar to Molten Core’s teleportation system; it will allow you to quick travel to future checkpoints as you unlock them.
For now, jump down the hill to begin. If you land on the hay pile, you won’t take fall damage.
The first boss is inside the Cathedral, but the door is locked.
- Scarlet Praetorians use Whirlwind - avoid. The range of Whirlwind is shown with a blue outline around them, roughly 15 yards. Cannot be kicked, simply run out.
- Scarlet Paladins throw down a red Consecrate. Massive AoE damage over time, avoid just like whirlwind. This uses the Retail visual so it’s easier to distinguish from friendly Consecrates.
- Scarlet Cleric are priests that will heal allies and attack offensively using Smite and Mind Blast. Uniquely, though, they have a spell called Holy Radiance that will do immense damage in an AoE around them. It has a 2 second cast time. Interrupt this or risk wipes.
- Scarlet Knight are paladins that use Ret aura, which does loads of thorns damage to melee players. They can also Disarm.
There are minibosses (Captains) littered about. You do not have to kill all of the Captains to summon the first boss, but if you decide to, the Captains are Paladins - they swap between Ret Aura (melee thorns) and Devo Aura (which grants immense spell resist).
To progress the raid, you must do the following:
- Ring the bell at the top of the Tyr’s Hand Abbey.
- Enter the Scarlet Cathedral.
A miniboss named Captain Karnwield spawns in front of the Scarlet Cathedral when the Abbey bell is rung. He has no real mechanics, just a lot of health.
After Karnwield dies, enter the Cathedral and confront Boss 1. They run out of the Cathedral and go to the Fountain in central Tyr’s Hand. The first boss fight occurs there. When Boss 1 spawns, they’ll kill any remaining trash.
When Boss 1 spawns, it sends out a projectile attack that should kill all trash in the region, however the projectile can sometimes be resisted, so be sure to look around and see if any trash managed to survive it. If something survived close enough to the battlefield where you’ll be fighting Boss 1, you may wish to take it out before the encounter begins, or else you risk range pulling it mid-fight. Captain Manadar, who patrols up and down the road, is impervious to this attack and must be defeated before pulling the boss.
Since all you have to do to open the Cathedral is ring the bell, you can have a Rogue stealth up to the top of the Abbey and ring it for you. There’s a single mob up there, but they can vanish from it after ringing the bell. You can then stealth into the Cathedral to spawn the boss and trigger them to kill all nearby trash. This lets you skip roughly 99% of the trash, since all you then have to kill is Captain Manadar (since he patrols into the boss area). This is not advised for first runs, but may be desired for future weeks, since it can be performed as soon as you have an instance ID, even while the rest of your raid is still assembling.
