You’ll begin in the basement prison of the Barracks in southern New Avalon. An Argent Dawn member will pick the lock so you can escape.
Leaders
Talk to the Night Elf named Fydriel near the Barracks exit - he will tell you which of the next minibosses are empowered.
- Whichever 2 were mentioned as being empowered cannot be killed, and will simply flee when fought. They will show up later in the Boss 2 encounter.
- Whichever 2 you fight first that are not empowered will die, and will not show up in the Boss 2 encounter.
- Whichever 2 you fight last will simply flee to join the boss encounter when fought, just like the empowered ones.
Which two leaders are empowered will be random each week, but consistent across all raids for that week, similar to BWL’s weekly affix. This means that each week, you will be forced to have two specific leaders in the fight, but which two out of four of the remaining leaders are in the fight is up to you.
You can think of it like a pick/ban system. Blizzard picks 2 each week, and then in your instance you can ban 2. Blizzard then picks the remaining 2.
These leaders are:
- Cardinal Stiltz, inside the nearby Chapel
- Bowmaster Puck, at the Training Range (near the Orchard)
- Shield Warden Stein, at the base of the Watch Tower
- Arcanist Hilda, at the entrance of the Mage Tower
- Knight-Captain Fratley, in front of the Scarlet Hold Barracks
- Cannon Mistress Lind, inside the Forge
Once all 6 leaders have been fought (2 are dead and 4 have fled), a large Scarlet regiment will spawn in the town square, coming from the direction of Tyr’s Hand. Approach it to begin the Boss 2 encounter.
If you need to adjust your kill order/selection, you can soft reset the instance. This means everyone must zone out and then the raid leader uses the “Reset All Instances” button. All trash within New Avalon will fully respawn upon soft resetting. Soft resets will also occur if the instance is unoccupied for more than 30 minutes (i.e. if you kill the trash, but don’t kill Boss 2 before your raid night ends, and then go in the next day, the trash will have respawned).
Let’s say the empowered leaders are Fratley and Lind. If you use the following kill order:
- Stiltz will die, since he is not empowered.
- Fratley will flee, since he is empowered.
- Stein will die, since she is not empowered.
- Puck will flee, since two have already fled.
- Lind will flee, since she is empowered.
- Hilda will flee, since two have already fled.
An enemy named Cardinal Martell seems to exist within the Town Hall, but killing him does nothing and the Town Hall does not burn like the other 6 buildings/areas.
Trash
Trash packs consist of the following mob types:
- Scarlet Praetorians: Same as before, they use Whirlwind. They do not flee when leaders are defeated. Located everywhere.
- Scarlet Priest: Mostly around Stiltz. They Flash Heal enemies and attack from range.
- Scarlet Archer: Mostly around Puck. They just attack from range.
- Scarlet Infantry: Mostly around Stein. These use Shield Slam (stun) and Hamstring (slow).
- Scarlet Mage: Mostly around Hilda. These will Blink, put themselves in Ice Blocks, attack from range with Fireball, and also cast Pyroblast. Pyroblast does an immense amount of damage and should be interrupted.
- Scarlet Cavalry: Mostly around Fratley. These cast Holy Cleave, so melee watch out.
- Scarlet Artillery: Mostly around Lind. These attack from range with Cannon Fire. These mobs have a massive range and cannot be LoS’d. They also have a minimum attack distance (like Hunters) and will flee from close-quarters combat.
When leaders have been defeated, any remaining hostile mobs (except Praetorians) from their respective areas will flee, including ones you’re already in combat with.
Checkpoints
In Scarlet Enclave, you gain access to a checkpoint system, allowing you to fly to certain checkpoints as you unlock them using the Flight Master near the entrance to the raid.
When you kill Balnazzar and get teleported to the Prison, you’ll automatically unlock that as your first checkpoint. Additional checkpoints can be unlocked by climbing the Watch Towers and lighting the Bonfires located at the top of them.
When you light the Bonfire atop the Southern Watch Tower (the one located in New Avalon), it will outright replace the Prison checkpoint. Other checkpoints are additive.
When the instance soft resets (for instance, if you go in to raid on a second day) these checkpoints will not persist. You’ll need to fly to the Prison and activate the Bonfires again.
