Magmadar
Last updated: 7/12/26
Here are the abilities to watch for:
- Magma Spit: Spews Fire damage at the target, dealing additional Fire damage every 3 sec.
- Frenzy: Attack speed increased by 150%. Must be tranq’d by a Hunter.
- Lava Breath: Inflicts 1157 to 1343 Fire damage to enemies in front of the caster.
- Panic: Panics nearby enemies, causing them to flee in fear for 8 sec.
- Lava Bomb: Throws a Lava Bomb at an enemy, inflicting 4800 Fire damage over 12 sec.
Lava Breath means Magmadar needs to be tanked facing away from the raid.
Roughly 5 seconds into the fight and roughly every 20 seconds afterward, he’ll cast Frenzy, which needs to be tranq’d by Hunters. The only way to obtain Tranquilizing Shot in all of SoD is from the tome that Lucifron drops, one per week.
The main thing to watch out for here is the Panic; make sure your tank has Fear Ward on them and disperse tremor totems (or equivalent on Paladins for Alliance) throughout raid groups. Players should dodge lava bombs while blasting the boss.
Heat Level Changes
Compared to Vanilla:
- Magmadar will periodically summon pairs of Core Hound adds. These need to be off-tanked for the remainder of the fight and act as a soft enrage mechanic. They cannot be killed, since they have resurrection mechanics like the trash and Magmadar counts as one - just kill Magmadar.
In addition to needing 96 Fire Resist:
- Lava Bombs leave a permanent scorched earth on the ground.
In addition to needing 226 Fire Resist:
- No additional changes.
