Shazzrah

Shazzrah is a Flamewaker, but does not have adds like a standard Flamewaker fight.

Here are the abilities to watch for:

  • Arcane Explosion: Sends out a blast wave of magic, inflicting 925 to 1075 Arcane damage to nearby enemies. (20 yard range)
  • Gate of Shazzrah: Every ~25 seconds, Shazzrah will teleport to a random player. He will leave behind an “Image of Shazzrah” from where he teleported from which will stand still and constantly cast Arcane Explosion for the rest of the fight.
  • Shazzrah’s Curse: Periodically, Shazzrah will curse all nearby players, doubling the Arcane damage they take.
  • Counterspell: Periodically, Shazzrah will cast Counterspell on players currently casting, preventing them from casting from that spellbook for 10 seconds.
  • Deaden Magic: Shazzrah will take 50% less damage from magic sources for 30 seconds. This can be offensivelly dispelled/purged by Priests and Shamans.

To approach this fight on all heat levels, you’ll need to have the tank hold the boss with the melee on it, but have your offtank positioned in the range stack. When the boss teleports, if it teleports to a melee, the main tank will need to drag it away from its new mirror image to prevent melee from being destroyed by Arcane Explosion. It’s not a bad idea for melee to run out preemptively in anticipation of the teleport. If Shazz teleports to someone in the ranged stack, the OT should pick it up and hold it there while everyone else repositions (ranged run away, melee run in).

Decurse priority is Melee > Healers > Ranged > Tanks, since melee will get shredded quickly, healers need to always stay up, and the tanks can afford to soak it if necessary.

The Images of Shazzrah have ~73k health; they can be killed in a pinch, but it’s far more effective to just reposition the boss and not waste time killing them.


Heat Level Changes

Compared to Vanilla:

  • Shazzrah leaves Images of Shazzrah behind whenever he teleports, necessitating a constantly moving fight.

Since this boss does not deal Fire damage, you do not need Fire Resist for heat levels on this fight!
